Tip #610

Remember to network with other literacy groups in your community because they can often offer great support for your school library. College Gate Elem Library recently hosted a Book Give Away during Back-to-School Night. Free books were provided by First Book, a nonprofit that provides new books and educational resources to schools and programs serving children in need. Parents and students were grateful for all the wonderful free books and the opportunity to discuss the importance of reading. If you’re a librarian in a setting where the majority of the children in come from low-income families, contact http://register.firstbook.org.
