Before school ends, I host a Lunch on the Librarian Day. We are a K-6 and we have a field day–all the kids are outside and teachers supervise them as they race, hop, and enjoy the day. There is rarely time for the staff to eat so I buy cases of water, bread, meat, cheese and fruit and invite folks to take a break. I also have a summer reading list and a free “adult” fiction book for folks to take. Everyone loves it and it is really worth the effort.
